See what my students have to put up with.

Given that our existence on this terrestrial globe is quite finite, let’s determine how many hours you have exhausted presently. If you are male, the average life expectancy is about 75 years or so depending on factors such family heredity, life style choices, and diseases to name a few. If you are a female you could expect about five more years of breathing in and out.

Determine the following:

How many hours can you expect to live on earth? ________________

How many hours have you already consumed? ________________

How many hours have you spent sleeping? ________________

How many hours have you spent eating? ________________

How many hours have you spent studying for school? ________________

How many hours have you spent studying math? :) ________________

What is the percentage of your life that you have already consumed? _______________

Isn’t it interesting that the assemblage of trillions upon trillions of atoms somehow began to amass in such an order so that you became, well you. If we could pick apart ourselves atom by atom, we would soon discover that we would not look much different than the dust that covers our car dashboard. The biblical statement that we were created from dust is not really off base at all.

Of course it is our sincere hope that these atomic structures continue to oblige us by staying in the intricate form that it has from even before our birth, but alas, it is inevitable that there will be a moment in time where these atomic guests will no longer facilitate our existence on earth and begin to, one by one, release themselves from who we came to be and join in on some other cosmic adventure somewhere else in the universe.

Life is short. Enjoy it to its fullest!
